Christmas in October.

***i'm sorry this is so incredibly long! its been a course of a few days writing this..and i'm just realizing how ridiculous it is! BUT, on the bright side, there are some pics at the end!***

This past weekend, Stephen and I drove to MB to help with some wedding preparations. (specifically, helping Aunt Betty get Christmas decorations down for the reception on Dec 6) It was soo dreary on Friday night while we were driving. You know, that gross, misty rain that is more annoying than anything. But, we got there safely and spent a little time with his parents Friday night. His mom had made spaggetti (which was great, especially since i hadn't eaten since 1pm that day) Then we headed over to Joe and Shawna's so i could get some rest! But, as usual, we start talking....and then playing Dutch blitz (which, i admit, i'm getting more and more fond of since now i am not ALWAYS in the negatives) and then finally going to bed.

So the next day starts the real adventure. We went to Stephen's Aunt Betty's house to help get decorations out for the reception/Christmas.

First off, let me say, i now officially feel like winter is coming. While i was packing up on Thursday night, i thought to myself, 'hmm..maybe i should bring a coat". then followed up by laughing to myself and throwing a t-shirt in my bag. In hindsight..not such a great idea.

So, back to Betty's. The house was FREEZING! Due to all the gross misty rain, and the door being opened and closed a million times, i instantly started to regret the decision of a t-shirt, jeans and flip flops. We got there at 10am and started to work getting things down and organized. All the boxes were organized with what room the decorations went in, so once we got them down from the shelves, we took them to their specific room.

and we unpacked....and unpacked...and unpacked.....and took stuff down, and put stuff up in its place....and unpacked some more....and cleaned all the crystal with ammonia..and then sorted ornaments...and then put up trees...and then tried to fix the lights on said trees...and then put up more lights on trees once we gave up on trying to fix the old lights...and then checked all the candelabras (sp?) lights...and then put ornaments on the tree...and then more ornaments....and then MORE ornaments! haha. Not to mention, took out more Christmas stuff from every nook and cranny of that house! it was amazing how much Christmas stuff was stashed in there! I can honestly say, that in ALL my life (cumulative) i have NEVER seen so much Christmas stuff! All of it was beautiful....but there was a LOT of it! I think i was just on overload, b/c at my house growing up, we liked to decorate for christmas, but it was never to that extent. My logic, growing up was that if you put more stuff out (knick knacks, etc) you had more to dust! haha, sometimes i'm way too practical.

Well, once we got all of the Christmas stuff out and somewhat placed, we left. Stephen and I had to go drop off our loot (we got a computer chair/ and some decorations from Aunt Betty) and then we went to the mall, so i could look at little girl dresses. We first go to jcpenny....no luck. we walk out, and lo and behold.....CHARLOTTE RUSSE! Stephen immediately looks at the glimmer in my eye and says, "you aren't going to make me go in there, right?"
"ummmm...well, i'm not going to make YOU go in THERE..."
So Stephen was a good sport and went to look for....you guessed it...POLO..in belk, while i shopped.
And can i just brag and say that i was in and out of there in less than 20 minutes (and that includes standing in line to check out!)

We were in and out of Belk quicker than JCPenny...no dresses vaguely cute, or in our price range...

Soooo....off to Stephen's parents house to watch the USC vs LSU game. Well, i made it through the first half of the game...and enjoyed it because we were actually ahead! and then...i started to drift off. (running on not a lot of sleep, people)
Finally after napping on and off...and after Stephen's suggestion (since i would jolt awake everytime he made a sudden movement) i went to the back bedroom to sleep on the bed. About 5 min after i got there, however, Shawna came by and offered to take me home with her, since Maddie was getting tired too. So we head home...
but when we get home and put Maddie down....we talk....and talk.....and talk....and then iron my clothes....and then talk some more.
So then Joe walks in, and we move to 'my' room aka the Chicago CUBS room, and talk some more while joe watches SNL. Finally i go to bed around 1:30 dreading my alarm going off at 6:15 so i can get to Florence Stake Conference on time!

Seriously....i was soo tired! The drive was fine down to Florence. As usual, Stephen and i can keep ourselves pretty entertained on Road Trips! (and might i add, we have some pretty sweet dance moves...) We get to the church and i set off looking for my family. I spot the Dennis family and ask where my parents are. Sis. Dennis replies, 'they are on the road'.
'Oh, so they are still on their way?"
'No, they are literally on the side of the road. Your mom's car had problems'
*commence the questioning....*

So, to spare you from that line of questioning, we had to send Stephen out to pick up mom and Jacob in his truck (yes, his two seat-er truck w/ our bags loaded in it)

But....eventually we got everyone there (about halfway thru the meeting! haha)

Then we went to Sumter to visit my family. It was a lot of fun. I did more wedding stuff (did i mention 4 weeks, 3 days??) and Stephen and Jacob kept occupied for most of the day talking...you guessed it....sports!

We even went to the lake at the end of the road to make 'rocks go BLOOP' with Rachel! What a ham she is! So smart and full of personality!

By the time we left, Stephen was sooo tired! I drove the truck home (yep, he loves me...he let me touch his truck) and we both crashed soon after!

It was a hectic weekend, but very fun overall! Here are a few pics from the weekend....

i think maddie only loves me b/c i always have "yipstick". well, i'll take what i can get! haha

Actually, just the other day, Shawna called me to see if i got a random call from her. She explained that Maddie had called me. I must be her favorite almost aunt.

Jacob and Rachel feeding the ducks and gigantic fish!

What a beautiful mom! and girl! I love them! I can't wait to have them up to visit me!

I agree. Everytime I see Jacob, Mary and Rachel, I think, "what a beautiful mom and daugther" too!
