****WARNING: This post is a little DIRTY****

***but don't worry...its still kid-friendly!***

This has to be one of my favorites of the day...All clean and excited to go! (well, with the exception of Dave...who is obviously dreading every muddy step...haha)

Stephen wasn't planning on being in another mudrun...but when a friend/member of the bishopric asked him to join their team, he was all about it! I guess he had a great time last time, and was up for the challenge. Dave, Terri(his wife) Kevin (a friend from church) and Stephen were a team for the big run.

They signed up a little late so their start time was at 4:46pm. Well, you wouldn't think that was so bad, would you, until you realize that they've had teams leaving every 20 sec since 7am. CRAZY! Are there really that many people willing to be covered in mud, WHILE running 4 miles? hmmmm....ridiculous.

AAAAAANNNNNNDDDDD....
They're OFF!!!

Luckily, Kevin's wife, Rebecca came with me, and we had an 'adventure' trying to scope out our team! Luckily for us, there was a HUGE high school team with neon yellow shirts on, so we were able to be 'warned' when they should be coming around the bend. Believe it or not....everyone looks the same when covered from head to toe in orange mud.

Not the best picture, but I loved that they both were trying to appease me by smiling when they were running at this point.
I wasn't able to get to this point in time to see our guys make the jump, but from what I hear, that was probably a good thing. They said it was really slippery by the time they got there, and most of them fell, rather than jump off the cliff into the mud. (which, in my opinion, might have made for a better picture!)
I wasn't able to post it yet, but I have a great little action shot of this kid from jumping, to splash. Oh, how I love my action settings on my camera!

Terri, conquering the hills...seriously, she kicked some mud run BUTT! If I have 6 kids, I want to be able to do that too. She's pretty much my new hero.

My boo, man-handling the slopes.

This wall was disgusting. As a matter of fact, it was very slippery, and some of the gross mud/slime had run off into the 'spectator' area. Well, I'm happy to report that I did not slip in it, the girl right beside me did not have such luck, and she fell into the mud. I'm sure she didn't think it was that funny, but her husband (who was running) got a kick out of it!

I think they are dreading trying to get up that slippery thing. Not to mention, at this point there was a huge back up of people trying to get accross.
Tired much, boys?

Then, Kevin had the bright idea to have everyone use HIM as a step ladder to get over the hill. I don't know WHY he offered to be stepped on like this, but he did.
(maybe he just wanted to take a break, huh, Kevin?)

Once Dave was up, Stephen had to pull Kevin up.
So... Dave braced Stephen, who in turn pulled Kevin up.
I love this picture!

Probably the easiest part of the run. Sliding down the huge hill of mud.

Next, the logs.
This is, BY FAR, the
grossest.
thing.
ever.

This part just made me cringe, thinking of that mud on my face.

Kevin is enjoying this the most, I can tell.

but then again, I retract my previous statement. Dave is most definately LOVING this.

On the home stretch!!

Bringing it home to the Finish Line! (lucky Terri, getting the ride in!)

Our MUDDY winners!
(ok, even if they didn't win the prize...they are OUR winners!)

Up close and personal with Dave's glasses. I think for next year, he should invest in some with built-in windsheild wipers.

The happy, Muddy couple.

Kevin and Rebecca.

My 'might never be this tan again' boo.

Showing off their numbers...or in Kevin's case...where his number USED to be before the mud got to it.

THE muddy END.
