MUDRUN=sneakers casualties...

This past weekend Stephen ran the 'mud run' in Rock Hillwith my BIL and a friend from church (and two other guys who I *think* worked with Matt or Jeremy).
Aside from the whole being a little late, so Cara, the kids and I didn't get to see them start....we had a great time!
The weather wasn't that ridiculously hot (well, not for us WATCHING in the shade!) and it was quite entertaining to see all the muddy, gross people doing obstacles and finishing the race(especially those muddy people that belonged to US!haha)

We had to wait for them to finish the run because we only could really see the last obstacle (out of about 17) and then the finish line.
Sooo...what do we do to entertain ourselves??
Well, for me...I take pictures! (what, you didn't see that coming?? then you must really not know me!)
*little side note, but I finally got a new camera to replace my old one that I was having some issues with(which is not a good thing for someone who has a photography business!)*

So, being armed and dangerous with my new camera, I took some snapshots of what we all did while we waited...

Photobucket

Nora....took every opportunity to 'cheese' at the camera for me. And since she was not within a 5 cm radius of me the whole time...she was an easy target!

Photobucket

Cara and Luke demonstrating the jumping game...this one drew alot of attention from other children waiting for their parents to pass the finish line!

Photobucket

Made fun of 'whale spout' man (and documented it, obviously). It reminded me of when Mary and I had shorter hair growing up, and before we washed our face, we would put our hair in a 'whale spout'. Remember, Mary? haha

Photobucket

Played with this awesome frisbee (and sort of got in the way of the competition....)

Photobucket

Got a glimpse of how this little Drama Queen is going to be when she is a teenager...

Photobucket

Saw lots of people jump over the last obstacle...and watched some fall off the slippery, muddy top.

Then I see our guys in the distance....I had to RUN to get over to the obstacle before the whole team was across...but my camera settings were not set, so I just snapped and hoped to get something! So, please excuse my ugly, dark pictures of OUR guys!

Photobucket

Watched Stephen land on his feet (thank goodness...Seeing some other people fall off made Cara and I nervous! Especially since the thing just kept getting more slippery by the second, and they were the 77th team to start the race!)

Photobucket

Watched Jeremy scale the obstacle...

Photobucket

and watched Leo aka 'Shirt turban guy' get over the ledge too.
(sorry Matt, I was too slow to get a pic of you too!)

Then, once they were past the obstacle...I had to RUN across the field to try to beat them to the finish line. I had to throw my flip flops off halfway accross the field because I kept tripping, which once again, proves my point why I should never run in a race...ever.

Photobucket

Photobucket

SUCCESS!!! Our guys did so good, they actually won FIRST in their division!

Photobucket

See how proud they are of themselves?

Photobucket

Yep...pretty proud....and cocky.

Photobucket

Oh, and did I mention....MUDDY!

Photobucket

I love him..but I don't love all the mud...

Photobucket

I wasn't the only one who didn't love the mud...We had to drag Nora and Luke to even get close enough to Matt so I could take a picture!

Photobucket

The whole team....although the guy on the left (I can't remember his name) got hurt and had to drop out of the run. Judging by the lack of mud on his clothes, he had to drop out before they got the the mud pit...

While the boys went to hose off...we played with a cute little dog

and then this happy little boy got a boo-boo...and his face turned to THIS...
Photobucket

Well....at least SOME people were still smiling!

Photobucket

After a band-aid and some 'courageous juice' aka Powerade, he was all smiles again

Photobucket

Emily found a million Cicada (sp?) bugs (or just their shells)

Surprisingly enough..this was after he washed off. the first time. Since there was only 2 hoses to share between 80-something teams...they decided to go down to the little pond to wash off.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Much more efficient...but also a little gross!

Then we drove home....Stephen showered off (making this #3 cleansing method) and then crashed very briefly before attending a wedding and a baptism! crazy!

I then took my second road trip of the day, and drove to Sumter, for a Senior session. (more on that later!)

Seriously...I feel like we are soo busy...but also very blessed, so I can't complain!

Ok...sooo...those little bugs just took me down memory lane and NOT in good way...when I was a kid, I was literally TERRIFIED of them and my sisters used to terrorize me with them by putting their stupid shells all over my pillows and stuff! UGH! Thanks for that! haha!

Grossest. Race. Ever. Seriously? Ick. Are you and Mary going to run the race in November with me? In Columbia? Ask her about that for me, please. She isn't on FB. :P

Cara's kids are ADORABLE!
