Not all the time, mind you...but in particular, on Birthdays! For the life of me, I CANNOT come through on Birthdays. If you put me on the spot and asked me to tell you when ALL my sisters birthdays were, I can just spout them off. But, obviously, REMEMBERING them on the actual day i'm SUPPOSED to is next to impossible.
Yesterday was my favorite, most wonderful, beautiful, artistic, fabulous, loving, hilarious, FORGIVING, 28 yr old sisters' birthday. (I had to clarify the 28-yr old part, b/c i don't want to be on the hit list of my OTHER sisters! haha)
And for the record, let me say...I didn't totally forget the birthday part. As a matter of fact, I remembered it was Mary's B-day when I was getting ready for church.(but I wanted to wait till Stephen was home to call and sing..and he was at PEC) then I remembered during my sharing time lesson (b/c Mary also had Sharing time in her ward that day...on her BIRTHDAY! someone give her a break, for goodness sake!) and then when I got home that afternoon (but once again, i wanted Stephen to be home...and he was in Ward Council). When Stephen got home, he went straight to bed (when i was still babysitting Cara's kids...***see? I am a good sister sometimes!) so I just thought we'd call later.
Well, that was then. And now i'm sitting here the day AFTER her birthday, which is not NEARLY as important, writing this post BEGGING her forgiveness!
As a matter of fact, I remembered this morning as soon as I sat at my desk and looked at the date (and saw, with horror the highlighted, 'star'-ed, bookmarked, circled, scribble, 'Mary's B-day)
Since my job consists of talking on the phone nonstop, I literally wrote with pen on my hand, CALL MARY ON BREAK. ( So I wouldn't forget this time)
Stinkin' sister beat me to the punch and called me to reprimand me for forgetting!!
I promise, i REALLY did remember (even if it was a day late!) So, i didn't even get to really make it up for being late, since SHE called me first!
And THEN, to top that, I get a message from my DAD, delicately reminding me that I didn't call my sister.
Talk about guilt!
At least her birthday present got to her early...so that counters the late birthday wishes, right? RIGHT???
So this goes out to you, Ma-air-ree-alla *click, click*:
I love you soo much!In no way, does my ditziness reflect on how much I love you! I love that we are such good friends, and that even without talking to you for a couple weeks, I can call, and its as if no time has passed. I love that we had 'late night deep thoughts' on the edge of the tub while we let Noxema tingle on our faces at night (during the high school nightly routine) I love that you send me Sharing time ideas. I love that you get my corny jokes. I love how well our husbands get along (even if it means we have to listen to a lot of sports talk). I love that your little 'sluce, sluce' now appreciates her TiNa. I love that we've always been such good friends (well, after that whole 'me taking over your place as the youngest' thing aka newspaper picture after i was born), I love how you stick up for me, I love that you are a faithful member of the church, I love that you were always and ARE always an example to me, and most importantly, I love how you are going to forgive me instantly for being slack once you read this post.
Because THAT's the kind of sister you are.
I love you, mon petit choux-choux!
and ahem...
HAPPY late BIRTHDAY!!

Yeah, I could use an update on your blog as well. :) (It was Jacob.) And we're probably not coming back to SC until Christmas... :( But we definitely need to see you when we're there. I was so excited to briefly see you on Skype! Miss ya.
